Hi, I’m Heather Strutz- photographer, crochet artist, memory keeper, yarn whisperer, and professional chaos coordinator based in Roseville, Michigan. I’m the creative soul behind HS Photo & Crochet, where storytelling meets snuggly stitches and a little bit of heaven shows up in the everyday.

This isn’t just a business… it’s my heart with a name tag. Every photo I take and every stitch I make is a tribute to the fleeting beauty of life, the magic my dad always believed in, and the grace God keeps giving me to keep going.

💛 Photography is my way of time-traveling. I specialize in natural, emotional, storytelling photography- from families, weddings, and events, to all the fleeting moments you swear you’ll never forget but somehow seem to blur with time. I don’t just snap pictures; I bottle up laughter, freeze frame chaos, and turn the tiniest blink of love into forever. My clients say I bring a magical touch to every project– which is something my dad always said I had. He was a magnetic kind of man, the type who could pull a quarter from behind your ear and make you believe in wonder again. That magnetism, that light, lives on in every photo I take.

🧶 Crochet is my calm in the storm. It’s therapy. It’s prayer. It’s my way of sitting with the messiness of life and still choosing to create something soft and beautiful. I handcraft cozy, colorful, personality packed plushies and keepsakes- from pretty little scrubbies to squishy creatures that feel like hugs in yarn form. I’ve always got a hook in my hand and 54 tabs open in my brain, and somehow it all works.

🙏 I run on Jesus, caffeine, and a stubborn refusal to quit even when life knocks me down. My faith has carried me through abuse, grief, mental health battles, and identity struggles. It’s not always pretty, but it’s real- and I believe beauty can rise from broken places. In fact, that’s kinda my whole brand.

I’m also the proud wife of Brian (aka B), the man who saw the artist in me before I did. He even accidentally named my brand. (Long story short: He called me “H,” we looked up how to spell it, and turns out—aitch is a real word. Add the “S” from Strutz and boom: AitchEss/HS was born.)

Together we’re raising three incredible kids (Lillian, Caitlin, and Benjamin) who remind me daily why I do what I do. They are my legacy, my purpose, and my daily dose of chaos and joy.
